Or, should I say, got 2! EB was nice enough to send me an extra copy of BF1942... Why? I don't know, but the nice thing is that I can install it on Brian's computer and he'll be a happy camper... So, was I first? :)

Of course not.
I just got back from EB in Westlake mall near the office here. 20 min of walking and the game is MINE!!!!
I got it too.
I just put the 1.1 Retail Patch up on the AK FTP server... This should keep anyone from having to sit in long lines tonight to get it from FileShack and FilePlanet. As a side note, the XP SP1 that's up there is incomplete, so don't download it just yet. There's another perms problem with the server (I think) that's preventing me from resuming the upload... Hopefully Beast will hit me in ICQ sometime today... Now to go set up the Retail Server... ;)
We should have a private AK Beatdown tonite!

Grr... the upload of the patch didn't go well either and I can't delete or overwrite the current file that's up there... I'll let you know when I've got that resolved... BEAST! WHERE ARE YOU!?
Should be fixed now--try to resume again.
I won't get mine til tomorrow, so hopefully I can have the required updates before then.. ;) Of course, I'll also be LAN'ing all day
Okay, XP SP1 and the 1.1 Retail patch for BF1942 are both up now. I've got the server updated to 1.1, but, for some reason, I can't see it in the in-game server browser... I can connect to it by IP, but no go on the browser... I've called EA about it and they were no help at all. I'm hoping it clears itself up or a fix is suggested somewhere... Anyway, if you want to play on the server, feel free to hit 65.219.148.17:14567. I'll work out the glitch quickly...
I'm installing my copy now. Unfortunately, I probably won't get to play it until Sunday, or Saturday afternoon at best. Tonight I hit the bars, and tomorrow I'm in a golf tournament. Real life strikes again.
Well, I hopped on the server and waited for about 45 minutes (starting at around 9:15EST or so...)
Nobody else showed, so I guess we'll have to try it again some other time.
Playing single player. New maps. New vehicles. New feel to new vehicles. Tomorrow I go pubbing!
The potential for multiplayer is huge. Can't wait to get a new video card so I can turn some of the graphics up, 800x600 32bit color. Had to turn down effects and graphics quality and turn off shadows to get a smooth at all times performance. I did do a test run out on someones server for a bit with 21 other folks and it performed great, some bugs to work out but great game.
On the server front, I know what's wrong, but I'm not sure how to fix it yet... For some reason the retail server seems to think it's a DEMO server... I've checked and rechecked and everything's great, but the server only shows up on my MP DEMO client's browser... I've put up a fairly lenghty post over at bf1942.com with photo-documented evidence, so hopefully someone will see it that knows what's wrong... Oddly, I'm not the only person with this problem... It seems a few other people are running some strange maps on their MP Demo servers...

I hear EB sent two copies of BF42 to just about everyone who ordered one. You should be receiving a request to send the other one back or buy it for cost.
I'm not sure if these shipments are protected by mail fraud laws. If so, you should be able to keep it without paying them anything. Could always ask your local postmaster.
