Who's Your Daddy?
http://www.eramsey.org/3dm2k1se-oc2.jpg
Athlon XP 2200+ (T-Bred) @ 1992MHz (166x12)
512M XtremeDDR PC2700 DDR SDRAM (2-2-2-5-2-1T)
Leaktek WinFast A250 Ultra TD GeForce4 Ti4600 (315/675)
Made a few upgrades yesterday just to make sure I still have the fastest rig in [AK]... Can't have you fellas catchin' up to me, now, can I? ;) I'm actually semi-disappointed with the score... I'm seeing some people over at MadOnion.com breaking the 13000 barrier with similar setups, so I still have a bottleneck somewhere... Yes, I am, in fact, insane, in case you were wondering...
-
I got 9750ish the other day... Not really trying hard though. Plays T2 fast enough for me. Game on, Z... :)
-
When I get my new computer up it should be running similar to Z's.. at least I hope. ;)
-
What is the (2-2-2-5-2-1T) for the memory? That's not waitstates is it? Does memory have waitstates anymore?
I feel old. Back in the day, I had 2k and a tape drive, and I was lucky! The rest of the kids made their computers out of dirt!
-
My benchmark sometimes, if tweaked right, reachs near 5000! On a good day, if I'm lucky and the number of shrimp is correct in the ocean.
Back in my day we thought a Texas Instruments calculator was an incredible peice of equipment, well worth 200 bucks. And two cans and a string was Telecommunications.
-
Back in my day... heck what am I talking about, this is my day.
Although the first computer I had was 486... that was about.. 8-9 years ago?..
-
You all had it easy! When I was a kid all we had was two rocks to bang together and we called it a computer. And we were damn lucky to have it too!
-
Hale, those are the memory timings, though I did screw up and slap an extra "2" in the string (it should be 2-2-5-2-1T):
DRAM CAS Latency 2
Precharge to Active(Trp) 2T
Active to Precharge(Tras) 5T
Active to CMD(Trcd) 2T
DRAM Command Rate 1T Command
It could also be said that those are the most aggressive timings possible on any modern system. 1T represents one pump of the signal generator that decides the front-side bus (FSB) speed.
2K!? dang... the crappiest computer I ever had came with 64K, and was then upgraded to a startling 128K with the extended 80-column card we slapped in there... Boy, that Apple II/e was a sight to behold when I got all fancy and hooked it up to the 12" color TV....oooooo.... Actually, this year is the 20th anniversary of my entry into the field of computers, so you're not THAT old... ;) (though, you are pretty old)

Alrighty, so who can remember when all the phones had DIALS? And weighed about 6 pounds at least. We were trained to use the wall phone as home defense as it could crush the skull of 600 pound gorilla!
-
I had a Timex-Sinclair piece of crap when I was 12ish (I think).
2k, expandable to 16k except when the expansion pack decided to fall off and crash your system.
-
I'm so old I remember when MTV = Music Television and they showed music videos! <G>
My first PC was the Coleco Adam but my first contact with PCs came with Apple clones (Franklin) way back in the late 70s + early 80s in elementary school.
Of course.. way back then it was different times. Back then you had to sing "My Country" and say the Pledge of Allegiance every day and they didn't throw you in prison for doing it. ;)

Ah, the Franklin Ace 1200. That machine took me through late highschool and into college, I think my folks paid 2500 bucks for it. Many an hour of Zork and Elite were played on that machine and a very little know game called Warp Factor which was the closest game ever made to this day to the board game Star Fleet Battles. I would put in my moves, energy allocation, shield reinforcements, movement and what turns I wanted to fire on then I would vacate the area and let my oponent enter his then we would watch the text readout in the execution phase would let us know what happened simultaneously.
All this and I even remeber when MTV first came on the scene and I even know what the first video ever shown on it was. I havent paid any attention to MTV in many ages since it is full of crap shows with the ocational crap music and not a single lick of tallent is put into videos any more. What ever happened to a song having a story, and even better when a story was sort of told in the video?

Nice box. :D Ever played Total Annihilation on it?
