Nope. I don't think Cheney is the vote deterrent that the media tries to make him out to be. Not to mention, I would HIGHLY doubt Powell would accept the offer.
McCain "might" help the numbers a little, but we already discussed that issue in a prior thread.
Who needs a VP change?

Hate to say it, but if Powell did end up being Bush's running mate.. I would go against my principles and vote for Bush.
You'll be a registered Republican before long, Slaught. Apparently, this forum has been a very good influence on you. :)
I think it's already an "open and shut" victory for the Republicans.
I think Bush would win no matter what as well, but I was just curious to see what you guys thought about the subject since it seems to keep popping up. I am aware that most of it is probably the liberal media, but I do like Powell and McCain.
Thanks for putting up that Poll, Palooka, that was interesting to see...
I think Slaughter is on his way to being a Republican too.... hehe... ;)

The actual Gallup numbers as of 7/11 are:
Bush 46%
Kerry 50%
Last time I checked, trailing by four points is hardly "open and shut." His numbers are even more dismal in the sixteen swing states.Quote:

Though I know you're fascinated by polls, polls in July are hardly an indicator of the outcome of elections. Perhaps a cursory review of the Dukakis candidacy is in order.
Kerry does best when he's completely out of the media eye. The more people see him, the faster his numbers drop. I'm still waiting to hear what's so great about this guy. I've heard a lot of snide remarks about our candidate but precious little in the way of "this is what's wrong, and this is how I'll fix it, specifically" from Kerry.
I'm not about to hold my breath waiting.

Yep, he enjoyed a disappointingly small bounce after naming his running mate. It's still a statistical dead heat - and again - July polls are meaningless.
As soon as the GOP spreads the word that Kerry's proposed programs would cost middle-class folks an additional $2,200 yearly in "wealth redistribution" taxes, the Munster's poll numbers are going to drop fast.
Yeah, there's "two Americas" - the America of people who work and pay taxes ... and the America of people who live off the others' work. Guess which crowd Kerry's pitch is aimed at?
I don't make a lot of money, but I am comfortable. I use what I make on myself and my family. I have no desire to share it with anyone else, especially by government decree. A vote for Kerry is a vote to have the government pick your pocket.
That and I don't like taxes, losing most of my hard earned money, or being defenseless.Quote:

What good points? The two sides have been statistically even in the polls for months. Kerry/Edwards will likely open up a 10pt poll gap after their convention, and historically that'll still mean nothing regarding the outcome of the election.
