Character wipe comming this week.

Warning! Impending Character Wipe!

Either tomorrow or the next day (Tuesday or Wednesday) we are going to wipe all characters and reset the world state.

A lot of things have changed since the last character wipe and we'll be watching xp gains, gameflow, beginning character experiences, etc. from a "Day One" setting once again.

Just FYI so you expect it coming...but it's coming. Be ready.

Also there is one server available today.

Monday, May 5th (Cinco de Mayo)

We only have one world server up today so that we can get maximum load for the purpose of catching load-related crash issues and to gather data for framerate analysis.

Please join in on that server. Note that it may go up and down quite a bit during the day, but it's for the good of the project, so thanks for spending time there today.

I would say tonight is a bust for getting any real play in, and since characters are to be wiped who cares about gaining any levels. So the big question I have is should I try to see if I can get on PS tonight. Last night I was able to play but a thunderstorm took my power out for a while, otherwise I was out of town and unable to play so I realy want to play it. Or should I play Everquest? Or should I play this realy cool Godzilla game I just bought for the X-Box (and copied some CD's over to the XBOX as my own soundtrack for Godzilla, a very cool XBOX feature). Or should I work on the spring cleaning I keep puting off?

Decisions decisions.

I just got my hands on The Matrix game for X-box so I'm gonna go try that out. I'll give a review if anyone wants one.

Okay, I wasn't able to play matrix last night. I will be able too as soon as I get home. So I'll post my thoughts before 9pm.

I will try Midnight Club II when it comes out, I've see alot of good stuff about it, plus you have mentioned it a few times Widow. I'm also looking forward to Brutal Force and Wolfenstein coming out for the Xbox.

I recently bought a wireless controller for my Xbox which boosted my interest in the console a lot. Now I can kick back at my desk without the annoying wire.

I still want to play Planetside tho...despite the character wipe.

Good question... it might be neat to try Vanu on Dalton server...

I also think that once we get going we should set up a commander heirarchy. Something like this:

1 - Player A
2 - Player B
3 - Player C

If Player A is on, he forms the squad. If he joins late, he gets promoted immediately
to squad leader. If Player A isn't on, then you move down the heirarchy to the next in line. If none of the designated leaders is on, then anyone can form the squad.

I think this will be important as we'll want to make sure our leaders get the bulk of the command experience (so they can shoot up the Command ranks and get more abilities.) By focusing in this way, we'll speed the process along rather than spreading the experience amongst everyone as a result of having a different squad leader every night.

Prior to the wipe, I had 2 BR 18 VS characters. Last night, my friends and I decided to play with NC to see the differences. Anyway, we went straight to Esamir for action against the VS empire. It was a slaughter. I'm not bragging or anything like that. Within hours NC had nearly full controlof the continent. The VS just couldnt handle our more accurate weapons. Very few VS had Lancers (the only decent VS weapon) and on top of it it looked like VS had a mass exodus.
Devs, I know youre not listening because if you were you would have already fixed the VS, but I'll beg again. Please help the VS. Right now VS are little more than bumps in the road for NC and TR.

I kind of like the Vanu energy weapons... it's the Vanu Mag-Rider that sucks, IMO.
