Ya, we just started it up and have a large number of reserved slots until we figure out how we are going to better manage it to allow pubbers but handled members as well.
Be sure to keep checking in with our BC2 server, you'll find that like our old BF:1942 and BF:DC server, we run a tight ship.
Hrm... that's not how I understood the reservation system to work. I'll look into it.
I removed the reservations for now. AK admins can open up slots on an adhoc basis using the util.
Should maybe have 2 reserved slots then an admin can always make room for more AK as needed.
I'm not sure how you can do that Gunny, as you need to reserve the slots based on name. So I guess we could pick two or three people who play the most often and have them added as admins just to make sure they can get in and increase the likelihood they are around to do so as necessary. Although I don't think it's currently a problem we have to worry about too much.
Problem with reserved slots is that it takes it from the total number allowed. So if you reserve 2, only 30 people other than those two named can join. If those 2 are away on vacation, you're now running a 30 man server.
The way it SHOULD work is to allow 32, and if a reserved player shows up, it boots a non-reserved player at random (or the lowest scoring guy) to make room.
In the meantime, an admin has to do the booting himself using the console tool. Inconvenient, but doable.
Also IRT subby's comment about not being able to post. Is this still the case? Can we open our BF forum for pubbers again?
if the built-in admin plug-in doesn't do reserved slots right, I don't know if you can with BC, but you might want to try and find a third-party admin plug-in for it.
I was using the reserve list on the server itself, not the Guardian software.
Probably premature to open the forums to anyone...lets see if this game has legs.
Open forum registration is a major headache. We were getting dozens of illegitimate registrations every day--mostly from Russia. Those people need jobs.
