Have they announced the monthly fee yet? When will PS be on the shelf at stores?
its gonna be the same a EQ.. 12.95/month Figured this because the game card is that same as the EQ game card.
It should be on store shelves by the 20th of May.
My mind is made up. I will not be purchasing PlanetSide. So I'll be getting back into RavenShield and BF1942.
Have fun! For me it's PS all the way, baby.
Well Squidly in that case....

I'm in on the 20th, and that why I have a Credit Card. Stitch, Remember... TV only get 3 channels or pay that monthly fee(cable) and get 1000 channels. Hmmmm...
I was happily playing this afternoon when all of a sudden everything locked up. CTRL-ALT-DEL, Windows key, alt-Tab... nothing. So I had to cold boot.
No problem, right?
Well my system started coming up "Disk Error, press Ctrl-Alt-Del".
Over and over and over again.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I pulled a drive out of one of my other computers, and I'm in the process of restoring stuff, but I'm not going to spend another 48 hours downloading and patching Planetside. I'll wait for the 20th before getting back in.
Grrrrrrrrrrr....
haha, all you had to do was restore to last known good settings and let it reboot a couple more times.. worked for me. ;)
That won't work...it's a DISK error, not a software error.
It'd be easy to fix (or at least test) if I only had one drive, but I have two drives in a Raid 0 config. If one dies, they're pretty much both toast.
Should have built that machine yourself.

How would building the machine myself prevent a hardware error? If a drive is going to blow, it's going to blow. I blame Planetside. LOL.
The nasty thing about drive errors is you don't want to send them off to get them fixed. The drives are full of personal information. I've got Quicken on there, email, and my web browser is full of cookied sites like Amazon.
Bleh.
This is the exact reason I'm seriously considering buying a 250 gig Firewire External HD setup (Maybe the Maxtor as it has good auto back-up software) and let it backup all my systems on the network once a week. Like on a Sunday night, let it run all night backing up my Win box, Linux box, and wife's new Sager Notebook. That way, if something goes wrong... I just format and re-copy onto the drive.Quote:

Currently, I back-up probably once a month (if I remember) and that's only when I save my documents folder, Outlook Personal Folders, Favorites, and Cookies onto my "archives" drive. I back-up Quicken after every session... I have too many bills to pay to risk losing all the entries per week! ROFLMAO :D
If planetside gave me a that many games for my monthly fee I wouldn't mind but you get just the one. I don't know about you but my cable install was free as were the first 2 months. PS has gotten very repetitive and starting to get a little a boring for me so I think I will pass on this.Quote:

hmm... well, I have no clue why it worked for me then..Quote:

I back up registered software and my Quicken databases... I even have most of my save games (although I need a cheat for GTA3 now, since I didn't backup my save games there.) I have a 100gig Firewire external which makes recovery fairly easy.Quote:

Still a hassle that I'd rather not have to deal with tho. Hopefully the new Creative Audigy 2 drivers (Released 5/9) will fix the problems I've been having with Planetside reboots.
Perhaps because you didn't have a hardware error?Quote:

I'll play for 3 months and see what it becomes. I have a feeling the game will evolve in some very interesting ways.Quote:

Anyway, we always have Counterstrike to fall back on, right Choozoo?
bah, oh well... if there were something better than Windows that I could play every game I have on I would use that instead..
Give me Counter Strike!

Squid: You want to create some strats? Here's your chance.....
My Favorite Game
I was maybe before, but I am a no now. My problem is that there is no victory conditions, there is no objective besides attack the tower, defend the tower. Money isn't the issue here, if I really loved it, I'd buy, but frankly, I'm getting bored. Battle Rank doesn't excite me, and this is an FPS, and most of you know how well I do in those....
OTOH, it is fun to get together and rack up some mayhem, but......
Maybe I'm still a maybe leaning towards no.
It's not a lifetime decision... I'm going to give it 3 months and re-assess how much fun I'm having.
I'm also playing Neocron at the moment, so I have a fall back if Planetside doesn't come thru for the long-run.
Squid, forget GTA3 cheats.
GTA: Vice City should be in stores now. Get that ;)
That reminds me - I need to send Squid a package.Quote:
