I guess with the latest patch they've gone to a slightly different XP system. The "slice" system is supposed to slow down XP growth and results in only people in the Sphere of Influence getting XP for a base hack and not everyone in your squad.

The EXP for individual kills is way down too. I'm not spending any energy getting upset over stuffs like this... it's all subject to change before, during and after game launch.

not overreacting at all.. just saying. I haven't played the game in a couple days, but the fact that they took out all Squad versatility will in fact kill the game. I know they are trying to slow down BR experience.. but there are better ways to do it.
How about:
(((Hack Bonus * Squad Members in SOI) / Total Squad Members) + (Squad Hack Duration Kills / Total Squad Members)) / ((Squad Members * Hack Duration) / Total Minutes Squad Members Spent in SOI during Hack)
Hack Duration = 25
Seems fair enough.
Or make the SOI incredibly larger than it is.. ;)
Personally I think the system was fine the way it was before hand, maybe they should just make the levels have more experience needed to get through them rather than messing with what was a good system.
/shrug They are experimenting with different things. I care not, slower, faster, whatever. Experience has changed before and it will change again. They are just watching logs at the momement to see how gameplay and advancement flows. They are not making these changes to try and make anybody happier just trying to get the game flow to where they think it should be.
or introduce the Planes of Power, but make all tier 2, 3 and 4 Planes open

In fact, the experience model is not yet set. It may (and probably will) change a half dozen more times before launch and will likely change many times after.

Speaking of changes to the game, they improved the bunker systems found around some bases. Check them out sometime. I was in a tunnel system connecting two bunkers along the outer wall of a base. The underground tunnel had little nooks in the wall for cover, and it's a great place to hide while you use a regeneration implant. They might have updated the bunkers a few patches ago, but I noticed the change last night. Lots of potential in the bunker/tunnel combo, IMO.
yes, but they also only have so many days before cd's start printing so that the game can be out on the 20th... and by my estimation that will be soon, if not today.
It doesn't matter when they burn the CDs. A simple patch can change everything on the CDs before any user gets in.
Slaughter knows all this. He has had a little experience with MMO's before. There will be a patch when the game goes live, a large one too if the history of MMO's is looked at. Exp changes, well that is server side since it doles out the XP, so no matter what they can change that at will.
I think Slaughter is mostly arguing with himself to convice himself that he does not want to buy the game and get sucked into it. That is what I gleaned from his other posts. And I can understand that. He is also legitimately concerned with the direction some of the systems have taken in the last few days, as many people are. But it is all just experimentation and will be changing, whether the changes are good or not we shall see.
He did over react a bit with his comment about SOE ruining another game, but that is human.
FWIW, I was playing today and hacked a base. Several friendlies came up and I added them to my squad. There were about 5 of us. We stuck around for 15 minutes and killed 1 enemy cloaker. There were no other enemy kills in the SOI.
After the hack completed, I got 17 Command EXP and my squadmates reported that they each got 40 BXP.
THAT'S IT SONY HAS RUINED ANOTHER GAME!!! ;)

I personally don't mind them slowing down the leveling dramatically, maybe by a factor of 5. However, their current hack XP system is dumb.
I've played a couple MMO's at release.. Anarchy Online and Dark Age of Camelot.. both patched on release(AO not so well.. cause it was still a pile of crap), so I know it to be pretty much a fact that every MMO releases on patch day. Even the EQ expansions had patches on release day. ;)
Wid is pretty much right, I'm doing my best to talk myself out of this game.. I'll be buying Enter the Matrix tomorrow to further make sure that I don't buy PS... Like I have said, more addictive than EQ, which is something I don't need at all.

On the EXP thing, I'd like to say that we were racking up the EXP last night with only a half-squad. I went from 2 bubbles over 9 to 2 bubbles over BR10 in the span of a couple of hours.
I did notice the XP growth was somewhat stunted last night but not too bad. I had just made BR7 the previous night and after last night I am half way to BR8. Not too shabby.
That tower fight last night was absolutely intense (and great XP). Eventually the NC ended up parking an AMS directly on the outside of the tower. They were then able to "outspawn" us and eventually over ran us. It was good while it lasted though.
After you signed off we lost another tower, north of the bridge. Both were extreme action. I ended up just running out the tower door, picking the NC with the most gold on his uniform I could see and gunning him down, hopefully before the 50 other NC waiting outside got me. Respawn and repeat. :)
I'm half considering trading in the Sunderer for a Prowler. We rarely have more then two people looking for a ride, and the Prowler is a better fighting vehicle.
What server are you guys playing on again? Don't tell me it's one of those east coast servers that I have the s****y ping to.
I haven't ridden with you yet, but the key to the Sunderer is standing off. Get both guns manned and let them reach out and touch someone.Quote:

Charging into battle with a Sunderer is a recipe for a quick death.
I wish they would start giving XP for hacking towers. It seems that MOST of the action now revolves around the towers NOT the main bases. It would be nice if you were involved in taking over a successful tower takeover/hack that you were given some measure of XP. Just my 2 cents.

All this patch at release date stuff reminds me of Tribes 2...*GASP*!
I can't figure out how to play that game anymore, to much crap to download.
With a pay-as-you-go game, frequent patches are a good thing. New content is frequently added as well as fixes.
I'm looking forward to this week and playing. I should have it Tuesday, although I have an after work "function" to go to on Tuesday evening, so I don't know what time I'll be in or if I'll get a chance to play or not.
