Indeed, what a great day to be an American (particularly a conservative). While we enjoy this great victory for the GOP, please remember our friend, Tom Daschle, who has lost his majority leader status, and say a prayer for him, for his hopes and dreams of pioneering a socialist America have collapsed. With his failure to lead the Democrats to victory, the likelihood of his being elected president have significantly diminished. Dick Gephardt and Terry McAuliffe also deserve our sympathy; it appears that sore loser McAuliffe may be out on the street and dejected Gephardt may not even take the minority leader post as angry, disenfranchised Democrat mobs demand new leadership.
To the credit of the Dems, they are getting good at delivering concession speeches. Furthermore, several of the speeches have been very gracious, including Jean Carnahan's and Fritz Mondale's (surprisingly enough). The dinosaur may be an old-school liberal, but he has more class than most of the New Democrats©.
To quote foxnews.com, it's Grand Old Party time!
I'm unsure, are you two republicans or democrats?
They are obviously Republicans..... they wouldn't be toasting themselves if they weren't. You don't have to ask me what I am because I'm from San Francisco... thank god that no Republicans won anywhere near here ;)

Here we go again.
Can we punish him for even making that inquisition to me? :DQuote:

Palooka and Hy
I didn't realize you guys were bleeding heart liberal democrats. You seem smart enough to at least vote democrat, but I really didn't make the correlation. I'm glad to see you are seeing the silver lining in a Republican controlled Congress.
Once we lose 5 thousand young kids on the streets of Baghdad and other assorted Iraqi cities, the backlash will come back to sting the Republicans. So let them enjoy the glory while they can :proud:
I am feeling the urge to post bad lawyer jokes here.
Better 5,000 than millions when one of our cities is nuked.
Give 'em hell Bribo!!
I really, really, really doubt that Saddam is going to be behind the nuking of one of our cities. The CIA has already determined that he is NOT crazy and he is NOT stupid. The last thing that he wants to do is give us a reason to nuke him right into the history books. As for Al Qaeda, they aren't his friends any more than they are our friends. Saddam fears religious fundamentalism in Iraq and has done absolutely everything necessary to squash it. Saddam rules through fear - not through God (or Allah).
We are just really walking into dangerous territory when we start invading nations because they are armed with the same weapons that we have. Who's next? North Korea? I am by no means a pacifist, but I can sense that we are about to take a very dangerous turn in American history.
Please stand back while I step off the soapbox - I don't want to fall and hurt myself :D
Even more impressive is that Wynona Ryder was found guilty of shoplifting! GASP! What a shocker! I know I have been on the EDGE OF MY FREEKING SEAT to know what would come out of that case! Now that is important news.
How could they find her guilty with such slim evidence as video cameras showing her with the merchandice. Who could believe a celeberety could commit a crime? I know I am shocked, I think this case is even bigger than the OJ deal.
I think we should all start a protest march to argue the verdict. I mean if we can convict Wynona then who is next?
/sarcasm off
Typical republican answer blame Wynona Ryder, an innocent actress. She was merely practicing her role as an actress. We need to sympathize her position not persecute her for it.
I broke the Winona news on my site "megaseconds" after CNN announced it, so there.
So did I but I 'programmed' in the wrong time and it didn't show up until 6:45PM. LOLQuote:

Which is really interesting considering he pays every family who has a member that elects to blow themselves up in Israel $1000 compensation, don't you think?Quote:

Thats what everyone said prior to 9/11 about us being attacked on our own soil. Underestimating our enemies cost us once, should we wait to learn a second lesson?
I suggest that Pudster consult case Palooka v. August Knights Liberals, page 233, section 17.
Zorro- you answered your own question. Saddam DOES offer money to family member of those who blow themselves up in Israel. However, those people are not blowing themselves up in the name of religious fundamentalism - they are Palestinians and they are fighting for an independent nation of Palestine. Please don't confuse that cause with Al Qaeda and Islamic fundamentalism. It's kind of like lumping Joan of Arc with David Koresh. They died under the name of the same God, but for totally different reasons.
Saddam supports the Palestinians because it wins him friends in the Arab world who are opposed to the Jewish state. Furthermore, turmoil in Israel keeps the pressure off of him. Why do you think that he launched the Scuds at Israel? He was hoping that they would retaliate against him with a military strike - which in turn would raise the likelyhood of a full-scale armed revolt against Israel by the Palestinians. It also wouldn't have hurt if America's allies would have backed out of the conflict for fear of being seen as allies of Israel.
In other words, Israeli military action against Iraq makes it highly difficult for the US to find allies in the region that are openly willing to assist in any military action against Iraq. Therefore, by openly being hostile towards Israel (but through a third party), Saddam raises the chances that Israel will lash out against him; yet he, in turn, has taken no direct actoin against Israel, which would make him appear as the agggresor.
I hope this helps to answer your question. :D
Palooka - please don't instantly classify me as a liberal just because I am opposed to this upcoming, predetermined war. I do not classify myself as a liberal and I was solidly in support of the first Gulf War. I honestly feel that this war is a bad idea.
I don't like Saddam any more than you do - nor do I like the Chinese Oligarchy or the North Korean Regime (both of which possess nuclear weapons and have them targeted on us or our interests). But that doesn't mean that we start a war with them either.
Tom Daschel at his new day job! ROFL

I think we should "start a war" with all of them, one at a time. Set 'em up, and we'll knock 'em down.

Kind of like Soviet Russia?
Got a dictator? We'll take care of him.

Years from Now, They'll Call It "Payback Tuesday"
Well, folks, Tuesday is the day! The day that George W. gets taught a long overdue lesson. The day that we, the MAJORITY -- the 52% who never elected him -- get our chance to reclaim a bit of our former democracy (back when ALL the votes used to be counted).
What if, on Tuesday, all of us, regardless of our political stripe, and just for the fun of it, decided to serve one big-ass eviction notice that said, you have two years to remove yourself from the premises-and you had better not damage anything on your way out?
I think we can give Bush the Mother of all Shellackings on Tuesday.

AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAH AHAHAH AH ahahahahahaAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
HA!
I LUV IT!
Thanks Squid.. that's going on Husted.cc right now! =)
Pudster, please don't jump to conclusions. I was merely suggesting that you consult the previous debate that I had with some of the more liberal folks in AK.
See Bush Administration and stupid ideas
Ever heard this Beach Boys tune? (Actually Al Yankovic's rendition)
Bomb bomb bomb.....bomb bomb Iraq,
bomb bomb bomb.....bomb bomb Iraq
Catchy, aye?
