I'm trying to gauge interest in an AK LAN party. I'm thinking that South Jersey would make a good location because it seems to be pretty central to most of the East Coasters.
This would be a great chance for AK to get together and meet face to face.
Any interest?

Question: I have never been to one, I guess guys bring their own systems???
Typically folks bring their own systems. For the South Jersey one, I'd be able to provide an extra 2 on a "first come, first serve" basis.

Oh, and I would attend all depending on when / timing, etc. Most of the October weekends are pretty bad for me right now....
In order for me to escape, i would be able to make a Nov. one if one was planned. OCT is not good for me at this point. But don't let me be the bearer of Scheduling. :)
Yeah, it wouldn't be in October anyway. I'm thinking that the Albany Lan is still the location for October.
BTW, the NJ lan won't cost $25 and includes a BBQ feast and a "night before trip to the strip-club".

Sounds like fun to me. Guess I'll have to install Half-Life and get some CS skills going between now and November/December/whenever it ends up being. I've been meaning to reinstall that, DoD, and some other things. Of course, since it's an AK gathering, we could also hook up some BF1942, Raven Shield, etc.
That said, wherever we end up being, I'd be looking for a place to crash, or failing that, perhaps someone to split a hotel room and keep costs down. I'm a cheapskate at heart (and I like to have extra $$ for beer and junk food)--but I don't snore and I'm neat. ;)
We don't necessarilly have to play Counter-Strike. Since it will be AK we can choose whatever games we want (BF1942, RvS, etc).
For a LAN party in NJ I will not play Counter-Strike. I'd sooner play DukeNukem 3D. I need a LAN party CS escape! And I know there are a ton of other games that we can have a ball with outside of Counter-Strike. Plus, the Upstate NY guys should do a CarPool to go down.!

People whine about counterstrike, but it's still the best all around team oriented lan party game out there.
You can play it on a WIDE variety of machines, including those obsolete by todays standards.
There are a TON of interesting custom maps still being made for the thing.
It's CHEAP.
We go to a different game (Unreal Tournement 2003, Quake 3, Halo) and people will be bitching. "Oh I have to *buy* it." "Oh, that game sucks, my machine stutters (because it's old crap) when I play it!", "Oh that game is old..." etc.
Whine whine whine.
Give me a break.

I think Squidly has a great point, I am still running off of a 1Ghz Pentium with 256 Megs of RAM and a 64Meg Video card. So, for me playing Counter Strike would work. I have never played this game, but I would get it to play at a LAN party.
Besides, the main reason I would show up is to meet all of you guys!!!

Oh I'm cool with a overnight event. And I almost got the wife sold on the idea. But I for sure want to carpool with some people to come down. It will just make for a more fun trip. Plus I'm so much fun to be around, I'm perfect for road trips!
