Purchased this last night. Played through the first campaign with Hylander and Nuts. Crap load of fun. Builds on first release but adds a lot of new ranged and melee weapons as well as unique specialty items. I'll be on again tonight for round 2.

It was a blast. I think the additions they added to the gameplay bring some nice variety to how you go about things. On some of these maps - I'm thinking the defib may be a must have. ;)
I'm not 100% sure about tonight yet.
No doubt. I want to try that realism mode at some point as well if we can get 4 of us together to try it out.
The fire/smoke effects are amazing, as is the rain. It really adds to the ambiance of the game.
Thinking about grabbing this for the Xbox this go around.
I expected alot more modding for the PC and was a little disappointed.
You should've bought Borderlands. At least they're up front about the nature of the mutants.
ZOMBIE TRUTHIENESS IS PARAMOUNT TO MY SANITY!
The only truthieness I require is that it's fun to play.
Played through the maps today with some pubbers. Very nice changes. The rain/flood/storm while retrieving gas cans was cool. Easy to get lost in the swamp. Running up and down the roller coaster track was a nice twist. The bridge at the end of Parish was cool.
Overall they took all the spookiness out of it. No more sneaking around quietly. Just too many dead and too many never-ending hoards.
Bribo and I did the amusement park with 2 pubbers. The final scene with the concert stage was pretty damn fun!! Lights, fireworks, music, zombie mania, and jumping into the helicopter.
I like the fact that they don't have a lot of ammo piles laying around. You have to make decisions on your weapons. Example: I have this nice AK-47 with a laser sight but I'm nearly out of ammo. I just found an auto-shotgun which is full of ammo. Hmm.
Definitely more challenging than L4D. Normal seems like Advanced. Maybe this is just due to the newness of the levels and infected but I think they may have cranked L4D2 up a notch or two.
L4D2 = WIN.
Bribo,
I think the "director' which adjusts the scenario (difficulty) on the fly based on the teams performance may also have something to do with it.
Quote:
In Left 4 Dead 2, the Director has been improved to encourage more participation by players, forcing players through difficult gauntlets to reach the extraction point. It will also have the ability to alter elements of the level such as placement of walls, level layout, lighting, and weather conditions, making each play session unique. The Director will now reward players for taking longer or more difficult paths through each episode by providing more useful equipment, such as incendiary ammo, along these riskier paths.
Can't wait to play this. Going to pick it up when I return from the Thanksgiving holiday, as Tuesday is probably the only night left that I'll have free for gaming between now and then.
ok Iam ready to play this, anyone on tonight?
I'd agree with the weapon selection importance. The combat shotgun is awesome but you can really burn through the ammo. Suddenly the scoped rifle (not the hunting one) is my favorite. It forces me to conserve ammo due to low rate of fire.
"Nade launcher during finales rocks though.
My neighbor and I were discussing melee weapons. The Katana is our favorite. Still trying to figure out the difference (speed/damage). Doe the axe seem slower?

I'll probably be around again, probably around 8PM or so.
I love the Katana.. and going melee. Like you, the scoped rifle is my favorite as well. 1 click, 1 bullet. I know last night I was probably overdoing the melee, but I was really trying to preserve my ammo as much as possible.
I do like how they influence you in making compromises when you carry items. Want a melee? Lose the pistol. Want to carry defib? You lose your health pack. Etc.
It's nothing revolutionary, but I really like all the changes they have made in the game play. The environmental effects are also very well done. I love the smoke in the burning building.
Sounds like it is worth checking out again...I'll probably pick this up after Thanksgiving.
The specials are quite special this time around. The spitter has amazing range when compared to the old Boomer. By the time you hear him you may already be standing in vomit; and that shit hurts. Only a few seconds to lose a massive amount of health.
Jockey is nice as it splits the team up.
Don't care for the charger... a bit too powerful.
It was nice seeing that all melee do the same amount of damage.
50 cal fixed machine gun overheat is a pain in the ass. Takes forever to cool down.
Boomer Vile + Moly = WIN.
Tanks may not burnout anymore either. Still confirming.
But you can vile a tank.
More challenging with the spitter for sure. You can't always count on that one good defensive position for fighting a battle as the spitter can quickly turn that into a pain zone!
Love the jockey.
LOL - The jockey reminds me of a giant HL2 head crab.
We learned last night while up on top of the scaffolding that the spitter can ruin your day. ;)
I will have this tomorrow!
Billy bought this for me a few nights ago, and I've played a tiny bit of single player.
Any L4D2 nights planned?
I've been on quite a bit lately. I've been going back and forth between TF2 with Gunny and playing L4D2.
If you see me on STEAM, just send a chat message and we'll get a game going.
I picked it up yesterday and will be on a lot too. Had a great game with Stitch last night--would you believe he actually had the fewest friendly-fire incidents? :uzi: I'll be on tonight and frequently for the next few weeks.
I should be on tonight.
ditto
Just got home, but should be on tomorrow night.
The AK with a laser sight is a nice combo of accuracy, power, and mass fire power in a pinch.
Thanks for having me along tonight - I think I need a few more practice solo runs before I'm ready to go again. :)
I should be on and off most nights, but I started this new project that requires me to do a few hours of work each night, and so I won't always have big chunks of time. It's definitely fun getting back into zombie hunting though!
Yes - you did fine Swae. It was alot of fun!
That was a blast last night. I'll be on again tonight--maybe I can survive this time. :D
I like the AK as well. but recently I've been using the magnum more and more.
It does 80 damage per shot versus the AK's 58. Plus it really barks.
Complete L4D2 Weapon Analysis
I picked up L4D2 today. Got tired of seeing y'all online playing it. :-)
I need to get back into a game.
Sounds great! I'll try to be on later tonight.
Awesome! My team has the nighttime NFL game tonight, but I should be on a good amount this week.
