Installed successfully; can't wait to try the balance changes. If no one puts it up overnight, I'll get it on the FTP server for Knights and Squires tomorrow morning. I'll patch the server to 1.2 tomorrow as well.
Update: From the thread Hylander posted, it appears that most of the folks who've been having 1.2 patch problems downloaded the patch from a 3rd-party site, so I'm not going to put this version up. I'll have the server up and running in 1.2 this afternoon, though.
I'll download it and try re-installing from scratch. I did download from a link on the ETQW site, not in game. Please let me know when the patch is up on the FTP server and I'll download it to my portable drive here at work so I don't have to mess with downloading it tonight from home.
Hmm I guess I am lucky. I downloaded the patch via ingame tooke about 3 minutes tops and has been running like a champ ever since. I even cranked my settings up and it still runs smooth now.
I too downloaded the patch in-game, and had no problems at all.
Interesting listening to some of the puggers using VOIP now. It can only help, I suppose.
First thing I did was turn off VOIP after I ended up on the same team as a K-Machine soundalike. :D
Hy, I don't intend to upload the 1.2 patch--the board you linked from the other site pegged it as one possible cause of your problems. It also pointed a finger at certain ATI driver features--I have an NVidia card on my gaming rig and didn't see any problems.
What's wrong with just downloading it in game? The functionality works great.
Well the game ran flawlessly before this patch. If re-downloading doesn't solve the problem, I'll just sell the game/license. Before I spend $500 on a new video card, I'll just buy a 360 setup. Yeah, I'm ranting. I'm just getting sick and tired of paying to be a beta tester and am getting tired of the PC as a gaming platform. It's not like I'm trying to play a new game on an old PC.

Why does no one else have half the issues you do? :confused:
In a large enough sample, you'll always find a percentage of people with problems.
And forums are collecting areas for those people. If a game sells a million copies and 1000 people are having issues, 600 of those people will find their way to a forum and it'll seem like a really really huge deal.
Anyway the point Bribo is getting at is that just seems strange that out of all of us who are running games, it's always Hylander with the issue. :)
I mean hell, I'm running on a Mac for crying out loud. :)

Not sure about this, I'll have to download the latest ATI drivers as I usually use the Catalyst drivers instead. I downloaded the latest Catalyst drivers but had the same issue.
7.9 drivers didn't work. Triple Buffering didn't matter.
Going to try 7.10 now.
7.10 failed as well.

OK.. Good news and bad news.
Good:
I was able to get the game to run by updating to the very latest Omega drivers which are based on the 7.10s. Also, go into the OpenGL settings and disable the triple buffer.
Bad:
The game runs like absolute crap so far. I use to get 60 fps, I'm now barely getting 30. I'll do more research on the forums to see if the patch reset anything in settings that is causing the problem. I'm also going to play around with the core thing enably do-hickey.
Oh, and when you start the game up, the UI now takes about 5x as long to start up.
Update... can't seem to gain any FPS. Tried a few tweaks suggested on the forums, but I don't expect the game to be playable for me until they release a fix. But I noticed a few things... the textures seem to be 'blury' more so when moving around and I hate the blurred background when changing maps.
Makes me glad I didn't jump on the ATI bandwagon. :D
I have an ATI card in my new pc and its running flawlessly, not sure what is causing their issue. I have an x1950 pro running driver version 8.421.0.0, but then again I always run stock all the way no need to overclock and use the ATI default drivers.
Overclocking is not an issue for me either. Neither my computer nor video card is overclocked. I don't like to run the stock ATI drivers because they are bloated .net ware. But I'll try them to see what happens.

I am running an ATI x1900 under Windows Vista using stock drivers.

Update for Nuts...
I did a clean sweep of my drivers, uninstalled everything, deleted all directories, etc. Rebooted. I then installed the latest package from ATI/AMD and installed the full package (Catalyst Control Center and all) and started the game up. Everything is back to normal. My FPS are back up to 60fps or so and graphics look fine.
By default, the triple buffer was disabled.
Damn. Just tried it but with no luck. I didn't go as deep with my cleanup as I could have because I've got some overclocking going on. I'll wait till they fix this mess.
You might want to check and see if the Triple Buffering is set to on by default. Try disabling it (if it isn't already), rebooting, and then see if it's still disabled.
I played a quick match with Gunny and Squidly last night just to test. It's still not as "smooth" as it was prior to the patch - but it's performing pretty decently. I'm still hoping the 'fix' will turn on some extra performance and smooth things out a touch. But then again, when you think everything is fine and aren't paying attention, everything seems fine. But when you are having problems, you are aware of every single odd thing you come across and then some things that might have always been there and you never noticed before. So it's kind of hard to tell. :cheese:

Nope--I wasn't planning on hosting it since almost all of the problem reports on the id software forums were caused by the third-party patch. In-game update is the way to go.
