looks like they are back up. Hopping on the AoC vent.
Thought it was 12 classes. :PQuote:
Character creation
Very cool. You select one of three races and one of 9 classes. There are restrictions on what races can be certain classes. You have the option to customize body size/type, height, face, hairstyle, eye color, hair color, body markings, and face markings.
My "overview" is up at Squidly.com
I started a warrior archetype last night which I took past the kid in the lighthouse. It was fun...a lot like any decent RPG you might play...
Again, the comparisons with Oblivion are obvious.
I installed it last night, after it was done I tried to run it and got a blank screen (nothing would happen). I hit esc and I saw some really choppy graphics that moved a bit then just froze... I am running a Radeon X1050 256 meg graphics card with new drivers, also have a duel core 3 gig processor with 4 gig of ram. Anyone ever have this happen?
Try the install again? Or try to run it again? I tried to open it about 20 times and same thing.
Hmmm FYI to anyone else that this happens to. Found on tech issues forum...Not sure if it will work since I have a 1050X.
ATI9800, x800 and x850 series Issues
The above mentioned graphic cards only support Shader Model 2.0 and systems running the game on these cards with default settings might experience symptoms like flickering black screen and shaky rendering.
This issue can be fixed like this:
1) Start the game. When you hear the music starting, a prefs file has been written and you can edit it (in Notepad for example).
2) To find this, you must go to control panel->folder options->view->turn on see hidden files and folders.
3) It is found at the following location on your PC
VISTA: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Funcom\Conan\Prefs\prefs_2.xml
XP: c:\documents and settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Funcom\Prefs\prefs_2.xml
4) Edit the line called < Value name="RenderSetting_ShaderModel" value="1" />
5) It should read < Value name="RenderSetting_ShaderModel" value="0" />
(NOTE: NO spaces between "<" and "Value" )
6) Issue should be fixed then.
Sedious are you running Anti virus software. I had to exclude the AOC directory from mine to get this game to work. Otherwise it was dead slow.
Woot, fixed with what I posted above, weird.
Just a quick note as well when your at the log in screen you should be able to access your video setting to change the shader model as well, for those less technical folks out there.
Has anyone created a guild yet?
I made the guild last night and while playing with the pretty buttons I hit leave...to leave the page, but ended up leaving the guild.
Brorlis, Swae, and Rocks being the only folks I had a chance to invite were stuck in the guild with no privledges.
I waited for both Rocks and Swae to reach 20 (the level you are able to create a guild) today/tonight and we still were not able to invite.
So Swae and Brorlis have left the guild and I will ask Rocks to do the same tomorrow and we will try it all again.
Are concerns were we might not be able to use August Knights again right away but if thats the case we will use AK and petition a GM for help.
So in short, yes....and no ;)
Also it seems all guilds are able to own player cities. The requirment for this is first to be lvl 40 (the lvl you start crafting at) and have at least 25 members in your guild.
I am excited and will be pushing to 40 by my count I have about 10 people whom are in-game and will join the guild at this time. So hoping more folks try it out or we may have to start a mini AoC recruiting campaign.
Yes we have a guild and I can now do invites (now) and will pass along admin rights to those with a (ak) or (AK?) that want it. Tho I think for a MMO the friends, guild management and the "find folks to play" is at bit in the poor arena right now. You cant even clicks on a toon and bring up a menu.
I agree I am not happy with the friends, guild, or group managment atm.
When I do a guild search AK doesn't show up so how do I get an invite?
So I think I'm going to give this a whirl....but I need a new machine first. My single-core 2.1 GHz Athlon just ain't gonna cut it here. I'm looking at barebones kits on TigerDirect--may order as soon as next week and spend some of that ol' stimulus check.
My Main toons name is Crakan add me to your friends list as well as Grakan and Cheyannah. Check to see if I and or Rocks is online and we will toss you an invite.
As well post your toon names here and ill grab you first if i see you.
all [AK] will have invite privledges soon as we get them invited to the guild so you can look for Swae as well if she is in or Karna or Madasin(Kidd)
My 3.0ghz 2.5gb RAM, GEForce 7600 (512mb) just doesn't cut it either. What a load of crap. I'm stuck with AGP and am not going to spend $1000 to play a game. I have tweaked down every single settings and it's still slideshow. Damnit all to hell!
Hmm, defragged lately Nuts?
That could have something to do with it if you haven't... otherwise I got no clue.
Im running a GeForce 7300GS with 512Mb and it runs like crap in game with all the setting turned as low as they will go. Planning on upgrading my ram and Video card (to an 8000 series) soon.
Its not bad when there arnt alot of players around but it can get irritating at times. Regardless it hasnt hindered my ability to complete quest and lvl up while i save some cash.
new thread in tech support. I need some nerd advice.
My Rig is a bit outdated but its running it smooth. I have a 3.8G Extreme Edition running a Geforce 6800GT AGP. 2G of memory and 2 Serial raptor drives set in Raid 0 for speed.
Its a little choppy when I first enter the game but after the first few seconds it clears right on up.
My first first impression was that it ran quite smoothly. Had to turn the graphics down a good deal to get it smooth, but that's to be expected since I'm running an outdated rig, as mentioned previously.
Then I got a quest to go down a back alley and beat up some pirates. Small area, with only a few mobs, but it still ground to a halt--as in totally. As in, I got the snot kicked out of me and ended up a bloody smear. But I had to log anyway, so I'll be back soon to see if that was a one-off (as I suspect).
