Yeah, a couple years... I hope when it does come out its as good as it sounds..
This reminds me a lot of a super hero role playing game I used to play back in high school called "Champions". Looks good.
Reminds me of Freedom Force. I was addicted to the single player story until I finished it, but found the replay value and online play severely lacking. I fear a superhero MMO game--MMO games usually lack in plot, the very thing that drives a good comic.
Most MMOs lack a plot. I would like to see MMOs have a full time staff of story tellers/GMs whose only job is to create engaging plot items. It would make most of these games much more compelling. IMO, this game needs playable villains and some super charged PvP action.
EQ has a good plot line, if you've been playing since it came out and are in one of the uber guilds.. ;)
Great plot line... kill same monsters over and over, make equipment, wait on spawn of monster to kill, make equipment. Rinse and Repeat.Quote:

Plot Line... not the daunting tasks that lowbies do..
EQ has one of the largest plotlines of any game. With multiple sub plots and histories for every race (most every race, the cat people and froglok thing is kind of thin). Unfortunately most people just ignore it ("too much reading") and just do the hack and xp grind thing. Hell, if you actualy read the text the NPC's say to you when doing and completing quests almost every one of them is it's own story. Of course you pay no attention to this when you are just looking to get "x mob" for "x item" for "x reward".
EQ quest do devolve into the kill mob get item return item mentality because at their basis that is what they are. That can be said about ANYTHING if you break it down. But if the player actualy pays attention to what is going on they experience something... different.
I have actualy gone around and purchaced books of lore from NPC vendors just to find out why things are there. There are volumes of history texts in Cabilis (even though the lizards were an add-in race, they do have a great background that fits nicely with EQ... unlike cats and frogs) and I have read them all. There are other texts in other places. There are NPC's who respond to hails and keywords that are just there to tell you of things and how they came to be. People call this stuff "useless" as it does not help you to uberness but is just there for story.
People who think EQ has no depth other than kill and kill are fortunately wrong. Because the game is essentialy non-linear you have to seek out the story. And it was not always easy or fun to find.
Yes, it has a great storyline.. if you actually take the time to sit down, track down, and read all of it.
The lore that is coming out of PoTime right now is incredible.
i'm helping out in the development of a game much similar to interstate '76. we're using the torque engine (used to power t2). that's all i can say about it though.
Well, when you need BETA testers you know where to look. ;)
