This is the exact reason I'm seriously considering buying a 250 gig Firewire External HD setup (Maybe the Maxtor as it has good auto back-up software) and let it backup all my systems on the network once a week. Like on a Sunday night, let it run all night backing up my Win box, Linux box, and wife's new Sager Notebook. That way, if something goes wrong... I just format and re-copy onto the drive.
Currently, I back-up probably once a month (if I remember) and that's only when I save my documents folder, Outlook Personal Folders, Favorites, and Cookies onto my "archives" drive. I back-up Quicken after every session... I have too many bills to pay to risk losing all the entries per week! ROFLMAO :D
I back up registered software and my Quicken databases... I even have most of my save games (although I need a cheat for GTA3 now, since I didn't backup my save games there.) I have a 100gig Firewire external which makes recovery fairly easy.
